Kokopelli (or Kokopeli) is a common Native American traditional figure among the Hopi and Zuni peoples of the American Southwest. He is commonly seen in ancient petroglyphs that are nearly a thousand years old and is believed to be a god-like figure of the Anasazi civilization that is believed to be a pre-cursor to many Hopi and Zuni traditions. Navajos in the same region also follow the story of Kokopelli and many of the famous stone-carvings of Kokopelli are on Navajo lands. Kokopelli has become a symbol of good luck that has been adopted by people beyond the area of his origin.

Many powers are attributed to Kokopelli. It is believed that his good luck powers came from his power to create life. He was believed to be the power that taught people to plant and cultivate corn. He prepared the earth for planting, bringing spring by warming the ground and bringing rain through flute playing and songs. Often depicted carrying a sack that contains corn, seedlings and other plants, he is thought to spread wealth. From his power to grow things, Kokopelli is seen to be an aid to human fertility as well. He is usually considered most welcome and childless women seek him as an aid to pregnancy. However, he also is a good-natured partier and unmarried women who don't want children are supposed to avoid him. It is said that you should be careful if you sleep at some campgrounds near ancient carvings of Kokopelli because wives and daughters can wind up pregnant if you're not careful!

Kokopelli is carefree and uninhibited, sexy and joyful, smart and tricky. He brings wealth through charity, fertility, fun and good luck to most who encounter him. He's a great addition to your life if you seek any of these.
